About St Paul’s

St Pauls story began in 1977 with a church initiative to overcome consistent difficulties in homelessness within Worcester. Over the years St Pauls has grown and developed into the success story as it stands now. Various moves took place and since 1988 St Pauls Hostel has been the much-needed safe space  for people suffering with homelessness. The accommodation portfolio continues to grow and also includes 4 Resettlement Houses situated across the City and Worcestershire’s ‘Housing First’ project.

The vision is that everyone has a place where they belong, so that Worcester is a place where homelessness is rare, brief and seldom re-occurring.

The CEO will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, driving fundraising efforts, managing operations, fostering partnerships, and ensuring the organization remains true to its mission of supporting the homeless population in the city.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to advance the organization’s mission and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and innovation in addressing homelessness within the community.
  • Provide visionary leadership to inspire staff, volunteers, and stakeholders towards achieving organizational goals.

Fundraising and Financial Management:

  • Oversee fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation, grant writing, and events management alongside an experienced in-house fundraising expert
  • Oversee the development and management of the annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
  • Maintain transparent financial reporting and accountability to donors, stakeholders and trustees.

Project Management:

  • Oversee the implementation and evaluation of projects and services offered by the charity.
  • Ensure projects are aligned with the SPH mission and meet the needs of the homeless population in the city
  • Continuously assess project effectiveness and make adjustments as necessary to maximize impact.

Partnership Development:

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with Local Government (regionally and locally), NHS Officials, Public Health, Community organisations, businesses, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with partners to leverage resources, expand services, and advocate for policies that address homelessness.
  • Being the point of contact for all media initiatives and driving forward the mission to various local outlets

Operational Management:

  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing and self-sufficient team of staff and volunteers.
  • Foster a positive organisational culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ensure SPH values are adhered to and upheld
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including facilities management, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Experience Required:

  • Proven leadership experience ideally in the nonprofit sector or an industry that aligns with such values
  • Demonstrated success in senior operations, financial management, and strategic planning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Passion for social justice and a commitment to serving vulnerable communities.
