December CEO update
Where did the year go again?
Our small office is now chock-a-block with donations from local schools and supporters. As I write this message the team are busy creating Christmas parcels for hostel residents and Housing First participants and sorting through stacks of goodies.
Christmas cards are landing on my desk with increasing frequency and BBC Midlands have been filming for the local news and speaking to two people we have helped to live through homelessness. I hope you can watch it.
As the year draws to a close, I find myself thinking about the incredible impact you help us to make. Your support makes a difference. Our mission is important, but the work can be tough on the team so the small things you send also matter. Whether that be the email or letter of support (thank you Di L for your email this week) or box of chocolate for the staff, dog biscuits for Bailey and Buzz, cycle inner tubes or spares or some seeds for Jamie’s Garden, these make a difference.
Wider public support is the cornerstone of our mission and a necessity for wider change. You can help by finding opportunities to speak at events, big or small.
Your continued support fuels my personal determination to forge ahead, tackling these seemingly insoluble challenges and effecting positive change in the lives of people who have definitely not made a lifestyle choice.
I extend my warmest wishes to you and your families this holiday season. I hope your Christmas be filled with peace and the love that comes from being with one another.
